Learning Objectives For a Solid Music Education Program - Learning Music History

A strong music education program teaches his students to understand music history. History allows students to different types of music. This is really important for the composition of students. Together with their understanding of the theory, they can choose from different genres to their own styles.

understanding of the various periods in the history of music is very important because the students are able to see the progression of a musical style to the next. Also, the students see the connection between the styles and the events during the various periods. The students will see how historical events were, and in music. Below is a list of European dates and the type of music, which dominated during this period:

1. Ancient Period (app.753 BC-336 AD) - Monophony (music with one voice)

2. The Middle Ages (ca. 336-1500) - polyphony (music with more than one voice)

3. The Renaissance Period (ca. 1450-1600) - Musica Reservata (music consisting of various texts, sung at the same time that the same feeling)

4. The Baroque (ca. 1600-1750) - Toccata (light, fast-paced piano composition), joints (composition with re-issues, in different voices), Preludes (typically a short introductory piece to a more complex composition)

5. The classical period (ca. 1750-1827) - Sonata (composition, consisting of three contrasting sections, called the exhibition, the development and recapitulation)

6. The Romantic Period (1827-1900) - Program music (music, the emotions moved to mental images or pictures in the imagination)

7. Music in the early to mid-twentieth century (1900-1951) - Impressionism (music, complaining about an atmosphere that arouse emotions and not with non-traditional methods), Expressionism (music expresses that intense emotions with non-traditional methods of letter)

Any type of music reflected the times in which they flourished. It took over their properties and tells the story of the events as they unfolded, the music is a mirror image of his time.
