Who Designed the Deck of Cards?

A the card deck is everywhere. We see them wait in line at a supermarket, on a poster from the highway, in a magician's hand and even some children's books. The spades, diamonds, hearts, and Klee, together with the face cards with kings, queens and jacks are a familiar place for us all. But, came up with this and what do they mean? Why did they opt for the four forms and why all the face cards differently?

The four suits (spades, diamonds, hearts, and Klee) comes from France at about the 1480th The groundbreaking was copied from the leaf and acorn Club of suits by the German heart remained the same during the whole time, diamonds came from coins. Even in the 15th Century, Europeans face cards to represent members of license fees (kings, queens) and a servant, or knave that is now commonly known as Jack. Each of the face cards have their own unique name, not many people.

The King tickets are named after many great kings of the past. The king of spades is named after King David, King of hearts Charles, the king of diamonds, as Julius Caesar, and finally the king of clubs as Alexander the Great. The queen cards are named after the famous female personalities from both mythological and real history. The King of Spades has changed the name of Pallas, is the daughter of Triton and support of the parent company to Athena in Greek mythology, Queen of hearts as Judith, is to kill notorious Homofernes, Queen of diamonds, as Rachel, and the Queen of Clubs like Argine. Finally, the Knave or Jack cards are named after the famous right hand man for a king. Jack of spades is Ogier the Dane, a knight of Charlemagne, Jack of hearts as La Hire, a comrade of Jeanne d'Arc, Jack of diamonds as Hector of Troy, and finally jack of clubs as Lancelot from the Round Table of King Arthur.

Other designs such as the index in the corner enabled players to keep the cards in one hand, rather than two to the full picture of the card. The knave was originally indicated Kn but because it is similar to King's home so that they borrowed the term jack from the game to replace all fours knave in 1600, but it was once considered vulgar, the term Jack. The reversible court or face cards are made so that the players are not tempted to turn upside down the face cards right side up, hinting at what the other players that they have some kind of a face card in their hands .

People say that the card game holds religious, astronomical or metaphysical symbolism. Four colors than four seasons, 13 maps than 13 stages of the Asian cycle, red and black for day and night, 52 cards, as the number of weeks in a year, and with all the figures are added, resulting in 364 days to one year. Other nick-name for each card, as Beelzebub for spades and produce what is not. Now the next time you play cards with your friends, throw in some excitement by some of these terms should be fun and they bring a little fun at the table.
